The Revisor reviewed the bill for the Committee.(Attachment 6)  She stood for questions.

The first proponent on this bill was Representative Ken Collins. (Attachment 7)  He said this bill requires federal disability determinations to be probative in Kansas. He said the bill would prohibit state agencies and municipalities from requesting or demanding a veteran's private health information for the purpose of determining eligibility for service-connected or non-service-connected disability benefits and would prohibit the reconsideration of disability determination made by federal officials as specified in the bill. He stood for questions.

Mike Kelly said this bill will provide clarity which will permit easier administration of Kansas laws that benefit veterans.(Attachment 8)   He stood for questions.

Representative Dodson moved to suspend the rules, seconded by Representative Weigel, motion carried. Back on the bill.  Representative Collins moved to pass HB2831` favorably from Committee, seconded by Representative Miller, motion carried.

Chairman Ellis closed the hearing on HB2831 and opened the hearing on HB2833.
